Will the plastic cards we usually use catch fire?

At present, the material used for our domestic plastic cards and password scratch cards is primarily PVC (polyvinyl chloride). PVC is a versatile synthetic resin derived from the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomers. It consists of repeating units arranged in a random configuration. There are different types of PVC based on production methods, including general-purpose PVC resin, high-degree of polymerization PVC resin, and cross-linked PVC resin. For making PVC cards, we usually utilize general-purpose PVC resin formed through polymerization of vinyl chloride monomers with initiators.

 

General-purpose PVC resins are created by initiating the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomers. On the other hand, high-degree of polymerization PVC resins involve the addition of growth agents to the polymerization system. Cross-linked PVC resin, however, is produced by introducing a cross-linking agent containing diene and polyene into the polymerization system of vinyl chloride monomers.

 

One of the significant characteristics of polyvinyl chloride is its flame-retardant nature, making it widely suitable for fire protection applications. Therefore, our plastic cards are made with a material that not only resists catching fire but also has a flame retardant effect. This ensures the safety and durability of our cards.
