Description

RFID technology is a revolutionary contactless automatic identification system that uses radio frequency signals to identify objects and retrieve data without human intervention. Unlike traditional barcode technology, RFID technology can accurately identify moving objects and read multiple labels effortlessly. This makes it ideal for use in adverse conditions, such as oil, dust, and pollution. The EM4200 chip is one such short-distance RFID technology used for industrial applications.
In contrast, long-distance RFID technology is used mainly in transportation domains, where it can identify vehicles and automate the charging process. The reading distances for these systems are around tens of meters. The RFID system comprises three main components: the tag, which includes the chip and coupling element; the reader, which reads and writes tag data; and the antenna, which transmits radio frequency signals between the tag and reader. Overall, RFID technology has proven to be a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solution for various industries.

The EM4200 serial chip card, also known as an ID card, is a type of CMOS integrated circuit that is specifically designed to be used in electronic Read Only RF transponders. Its main purpose is to replace the EM Microelectronic-Marin Read Only ICs EM4100/4102 and EM4005/4105. Essentially, the EM4200 chip serves as a unique identifier that cannot be modified or altered, as it contains a fixed ID number that can be read by a reader.
However, it is important to note that the EM4200 chip does not have any protective functions, as it only contains the card number. Nonetheless, this technology has become quite popular in access control solutions that operate at a low frequency of 125KHz. In such applications, the unique card number in the chip can be easily read by the reader, which then uses the unique serial number (UID) as a means of identification for access control, time and attendance, or other similar purposes.
Overall, while the EM4200 chip does not offer a high level of security, it is certainly a useful technology for applications that require a reliable and easily identifiable form of access control.

FAQ

Q: What is the working theory for the EM4200 ID card?

A: 1. Reader sends the 125Khz signal out by the antenna;

2. ID Card entered the working area of the reader, inductance coil, and capacitance from the ID card connected to receive the 125Khz signal from the reader;

3. The read control module modulates the data of the storer on the carrier via phase-modulation coding, and send it back to the reader via an antenna;

4. The reader will adjust, encrypt and send the signal from the card to the company.

Q: Are all RFID cards the same?

A: There are three types of cards: RFID contactless cars with 125Khz and 13.56Mhz and 960Mhz frequency chips.

Q: What is an EM card?

A: EM is a standard RFID technology to be used by many Nordic access control systems. EM4200 is the EM chip used with 125Khz today and is compatible with EM4102. EM uses a shorter read range of up to 20CM depending on the environment, reader, and antenna.

Q: What is the difference between EM4200 and TK 4200

A: TK4200 is compatible with EM4200 in China. Most TK4200 are used in China market.
